Project Details

Community theatres put on work with and for a particular community. Theatre Ecole is a Glasgow-based, non-profit community theatre, working with young people aged 9-25, and producing 2 major and 5-6 smaller productions a year. Productions include a Victorian Christmas show and a lot of issue-based work relevant to young people – like anti-vandalism, alcohol and drug misuse and so on. Through workshops, young people are trained in all aspects of the performing arts and as a result gain tremendous self-confidence, great presentation skills, and in some cases, go on to pursue professional careers in the theatre. Theatre Ecole is well supported in its south Glasgow community– attracting about 150 people per evening to productions, and a wide range of children participating in workshops and programmes. The purchase of 3 new microphones, funded by It’s Your Community, will improve delivery of performance, enable audiences to hear and enjoy more, and keep a really terrific show on the road for a long time to come.
