Project Details
Bereavement is one life’s most difficult experiences and can lead to a powerful trail of emotions involving everyone in the family. The Shattered Dreams drop-in Centre was set up to address these issues by offering a Bereavement Awareness, Information and Support network for families, friends and professionals. The Young Explorers Fund was set up under the umbrella of Understanding Differences, specifically to help children through the confusion and distress of bereavement. Because some children might not be able to talk openly about their experiences, the club will have a range of craft oriented projects that will encourage children to explore their feelings in a range of ways. They will be encouraged to make things like a Memory Box, Garden, Candle, Book, etc. These activities will occur in a group setting where grieving children can meet others who have lost close relatives and realise they are not alone. It’s Your Community funding will help pay for the materials they need to put this pioneering project into place.
