Project Details
Vicky Coffey was running a voluntary cleanup programme on estates in Blackwell and Limehouse when she noticed that there were several groups of Bangladeshi women attempting to start their own impromptu gardens in areas with almost no green space. However, there are empty spaces on some estates that could be turned into a 'growing area' and by 'growing area' Splash Gardens means not only the growing of food but also the growing of community spirit. This is a fantastic networking opportunity that could spread from estate to estate, enabling people to grow fresh food, establish 'ownership' and respect for the environment, and encourage a sense of belonging.
