Project Details
This is a project which works with young people in South Leeds addressing issues such as truancy, anti-social behaviour, addiction, anger management and health problems. It aims to use the widespread popularity of football to engage them in positive activities. Middleton, where the club is based is an area of high immigration and many of its young people are under-achieving. All of these issues can lead to tension and so it was felt that an It’s Your Community award would ease tensions and provide a huge confidence boost to Middleton’s young people. This award will not only enable the purchase of essential equipment, but will also help some volunteers to go on accredited training schemes. In the long term the whole community benefits when young people are supported to make a successful transition from young person to adult.
