Project Details

This project involves a group of young people with high hopes and aspirations. One of them, Rhasan Brunner, is a young man of exceptional aspiration and vision – he wants to be the UK’s first black Prime Minister. So it’s not surprising that his project is called “Vision Volunteering Youth Magazine”. An active volunteer since the age of 12 Rhasan wants to promote volunteering amongst other young people in Hackney as the best way to make a difference. The magazine will give details of all the volunteering opportunities in the Borough, as well as how to get involved. In addition to promoting volunteering the booklet will feature stories on individual young people who are active in their communities, putting them forward as inspirational role models. It will also have articles about all the different cultural organisations in the Borough and what they are doing to make it a better place. Rhasan will oversee the production of a booklet that will go out with the Hackney Youth Parliament magazine over the next year, so this It’s Your Community award will contribute to the cost of printing.
